The following information is provided by BABOLAT:
|
Babolat classifies its strings into 3 categories:
- Power (VS Team or Touch gut, Powergy, Syntronic Brio)
- Comfort (VS Team or Touch gut, Xcel Premium, Fibertour, Conquest, Super Fine Play, Attraction)
- Durability (Pro Hurricane, Razor Spin, Ballistic, Conquest Ti)
Their polyester strings are the Ballistic and the Pro Hurricane. Great durability, but if you have elbow pain issues, stay away from polyester.
Babolat strings may include the following materials:
Fibers: - Natural Gut (beef intestines) - Polyamide (PA66) - Polyester (PET)
Matrix: - TPU Crosslinked polyurethane - Hotmelt PA (high temperature process used to improve molecular contact and guarantee adherence of fibers. - Chemical fusion (wrapped strings only)
Coating: - PA Antishock - Thermogut (a high temp finishing process used to moisture-proof natural gut strings!) - Cobalt (twice as resistant to abrasion than titanium) - Titanium (particularly resistant to overheating) - Pearl (slows down string wear) - Polyamide PA6 (provides slip to help stringer) - Silicone (ditto)
String cross section definitions:
- Natural Gut: Assembly of over a dozen ribbons twisted together then blended under the effect of collagen to form one piece. - Multifilaments: dozens to hundreds of same-diameter fibers. - Macrofibers: Eight equal bundles of fibers placed around a central multifilament core. - Wrap: One or more layers of bundled fibers are wrapped around a large central core. - Monofilaments: One coated filament. Diameter controls performance: thin for more spin and power, thicker for more durability.
