Head categorizes its strings into 3 categories:
Some of the strings include Head's RIP (ribbon improved performance) technology. The construction principle of RIP is the use of ribbons instead of fibers (ribbons are flat segments of material, fibers are tubular). RIP strings consist of multifilament fiber cores surrounded by polyolefine ribbons. RIP technology is unique in that only the outer ribbons are fused together. The result is the inner structure is free to expand and contract. This gives the string very good resilience while still providing excellent durability.
Some of the strings include Head’s FiberGEL technology. Four thick gel-fibers are wrapped with over 800 DuPont multifilament fibers. This is then wrapped with a multifilament layer followed by a polyurethane coating for protection. The FiberGEL manufacturing process creates a very soft and elastic string. It enhances “ball pocket” for more control, and reduces shock vibration to make it easier on the elbow and forearm.
